5 Things Every Woman Needs to Have in Her Wardrobe for 2020

As we enter 2020, for some people it will be a blessing. And to start the New Year off strong, it’s always best to enter it fully prepared for all the new challenges and opportunities that are coming your way. In our article on the ‘12 “Notes to Self” You Should Memorize Before the New Year’, Angel Chernoff went over some reminders to keep your head up and maintain a positive mindset when starting a new year. To help give you a confidence boost and start the year right, here’s a list of key essentials to add to your closet to get you looking and feeling your best:

1. A pair of sneakers that go with everything

Converse’s Chuck Taylor All Stars are classics that now come in a variety of fabrics and styles. Since its introduction in 1917, this iconic pair is now available in leather, suede, and even slip-on versions and velcro types if you prefer those. If you’re looking for a basic pair that goes with every clothing combination in your closet, consider the white or off-white Chucks to add a cool dynamic to your outfit. On the other hand, if you’re worried about keeping your sneakers spotless, maybe black’s the best choice for you.

2. A flannel shirt that can be styled in infinite ways

Woman Within offers Classic Flannel Shirts in 18 different colors and inclusive sizes, so there’s no reason to limit your creativity just because you’re going for a classic print. For a perfectly undone look, try styling your flannel shirt unbuttoned over a plain tee with your favorite pair of jeans. Alternatively, you can also wrap it around your waist as a cover-up when it gets slightly chilly, or add a leather jacket for an edgier look.

3. A versatile leather jacket to elevate your look

Leather jackets are the number one staple for off-duty supermodels and rebellious women. Whether they are made from vegan leather or the real thing, they remain timeless so you can continue to wear them season after season, so try and invest in a high-quality one if you can. If you like wearing dresses, a cropped leather jacket shows off your waist and adds a further dimension to your look. On the other hand, if you’re not into flashy hardware, look for more minimal styles made out of suede for maximum chic.

4. The perfect dress for every occasion

Elle suggests a slip dress is the epitome of luxury and can be surprisingly versatile depending on how you style it. No longer confined to lingerie, cowl-neck and slit maxi lengths have been making their debut in the media through casual day-time looks to evening formalwear. It can be hard finding the right undergarments to go under your slip dress but adding a t-shirt or a blazer over the top can make you feel more covered up. If you’re feeling brave, skip them entirely on a night out and be extra careful of any cold drafts.

5. A tote bag for work and play

If you’re looking for a stylish and simple alternative to your clunky work bag, perhaps it’s time to upgrade to a gorgeous leather tote by Madewell that can carry all your essentials. Make sure you get the right size to fit your laptop, gadgets, water bottle any other bits and pieces that you need. If you get the tan colorway, it has the added bonus of making you look great on your days off with some blue jeans and a white tee. Because it might be hard to locate a specific item in this spacious tote, maybe try investing in a bag organizer to keep everything right where you want it.

By integrating these wardrobe essentials into your everyday wardrobe, you’ll be able to embrace the New Year in style.

What motivated me to write the book was an absolute calling, or strong sense of responsibility that I needed to share an experience of such great magnitude and magnificence. The motivation was to add more light in such fragmented times with a story that has always inspired, refreshed and renewed my heart. I wrote very . . . .

Joslyn Wolfe - Publisher

When illusions are abound, discernment is our greatest ally. From Social Media. to cable news sources, to self-serving messengers, and from as Shakespeare puts it, statements from those who feed us half-truths that lead us to our harm. All can be ingredients that make up a main course of gluttonous information stemming from sources of dubious intent. In the absence of critical thinking, we may find ourselves in a self-imposed eclipse of misinformation. In essence, to be well informed, and armed with truth, it behooves us to question the maelstrom of information that surrounds us, take time to examine the motives of the source and look beyond the facade of appearances to probe deeper to determine facts from fiction. It is through these means that we are empowered to make informed decisions to improve the quality of our lives, our community and our world.

"Fair is foul and foul is fair." -- William Shakespeare
